Extended Day
One
of our popular attractions at Cross & Crown School is the
exceptional Extended Day Program, licensed by the state of Georgia,
offering before and after school care for our students. The superior
care and instruction that children receive in our school is
extremely prevalent in this feature
Our Extended Day Program is a supervised time with lunch (brought
from home); rest; enrichment activities such as Art, Science, Drama,
Creative Movement and Multicultural Awareness; crafts, outdoor play
and free choice activities.
Staffed by school faculty members, the program offers care from 7:00
a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Students must be 2 years old and potty trained
to participate in the extended program. Cost is $80/week
(Kindergarten through 5th grade) and $90/233k (Pre-School 2-4 Year Olds). A $7.50 per hour option is available.
The program has been designed to be a learning and creative
environment which your children will enjoy. Here are some of the
things we do:
|
What's Cooking in the Kitchen? |
|
The children will enjoy learning how to prepare and cook
foods. Cookies, pizza, puddings, jello, pies and other child
appropriate foods. Yum-yum!
|
|
"Fact or Theory" - Science |
|
The children will discover and learn more about our world.
The child appropriate topics include: the seasons, space and
planets, dinosaurs, water, plants, senses, the human body,
chemical reactions and much more.
|
|
Creative Movement |
|
A professional music teacher will come every other week to
teach the children music. They will learn songs, games and
dance.
|
|
"To Be or Not To Be" - Drama & Literature |
|
Teachers or grade age children read stories to the group.
Activities include acting out stories and re-telling
stories. A flannel board is used to act out some stories.
The children will also have extension projects such as
making puppets which relate to stories read.
|
|
Arts & Crafts |
|
Children always love to make and create projects to take
home. The typical projects include: painting, gluing,
coloring, cutting and much more.
|
|
Free Play Time |
|
With all the structure of school during the day, the
children are allowed to enjoy personal time to play alone or
with friends. This can be inside time at designated play
areas or outside in the playground. This is prime time for a
child to explore and expand his or her imagination.
|
|
Snack & Lunch Times |
The school will provide snacks for the children. You will
need to provide your children with daily lunches.
|
|
Who Lives With Me on Earth? Multicultural Activities |
Each month a country or part of the world will be
highlighted.
The teachers will talk about different customs, foods, art,
games and songs from each country.
